Holidays at the Newport Mansions
With Afternoon Tea at the Chinese Tea House
Adults Ages 50+
Program Description: Join EPRD and step into the magic of the holiday season with a festive day trip to Newport, Rhode Island! Travel in comfort by coach bus and explore two of Newport’s most iconic Gilded Age estates, The Breakers and Marble House, beautifully decorated for the holidays. Take your time with a self-guided tour as you admire the magnificent architecture, elegant interiors, and dazzling seasonal decorations.
Following the tours, enjoy a truly special Afternoon Tea at the iconic Chinese Tea House, nestled on the grounds of Marble House overlooking the historic Cliff Walk. Surrounded by Gilded Age grandeur, this elegant experience includes a welcome beverage, a bountiful tea tower filled with savory bites and sweets, and an entrée. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a memorable holiday outing filled with history, elegance, delicious treats, and good company!
Registration: Residents: Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 8:15am Non-Residents: October 7, 2026 at 8:15am. Registrations are open on a first-come, first-served basis. Minimum: 40 Maximum: 50 Deadline: November 6, 2026 4:00pm .
Date: Tuesday December 8, 2026
Departure: This trip will depart from Recreation Park 4 Hampton Road promptly at 8:30am. The expected return time is 8:00pm. It is recommended that you pack a snack as Afternoon Tea will be at 3:30pm. Snacks can also be purchased at The Breakers.
Accessibility: This trip is rated a 3 for accessibility. The Mansions are not ADA accessible. There will be stairs, uneven grounds and a medium amount of walking. Participants will get on and off the bus 3 times, tour 2 mansions, and visit the Chinese Tea House which must be accessed by stairs.
Fee: Residents, $125.00, Non-Residents $135.00, Registration Fee includes transportation on a coach bus, admission to The Breakers and The Marble House, Afternoon Tea at The Chinese Tea House at the Marble House.
At the Tea House we will enjoy a selection of assorted pastries, savories, and sweets and choice of 1 entree.
