Join Exeter Parks & Rec for a trip to the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, MA for a matinee showing of Kate Hamill’s play, The Odyssey. The adventures of the Greek war hero Odysseus have been told and retold for millennia. Now, acclaimed writer and adaptor Kate Hamill (Sense & Sensibility, Vanity Fair, Dracula) turns a contemporary lens on Homer’s The Odyssey in a new play that examines the costs of war borne by combatants and civilians. Reimagining the stories of both Odysseus and his wife, Penelope, this new adaptation asks how we can learn to embrace healing and forgiveness to end cycles of violence and revenge. Please note that the play is approximately 3 hours in length.
